High Country Celtic Radio
Saturdays @11am
From Nevada’s high desert to the mighty Sierra, Katie and Joe journey across the world of Celtic Traditional and Contemporary music. Folks have asked us about the “Fair Plé Score” that we assign each show. As Niamh Parsons told us in an interview, “More girls than boys learn music, but more boys appear on stage.” So, we took it upon ourselves to grade our weekly episodes. The Fair Plé Score shows how many artists in each week’s show are women-led or groups with women being close to half or more of the members. We aim for a score of around 50%, since it’s an issue of equal airplay. (Rebroadcast Monday @5am)

Jazz with Kevin Reed
Mondays @6am
A two hour highly curated show on Monday’s from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. with content often described as “mainstream” jazz: music chosen primarily from 1945 to the present, focusing on the masters of jazz and the hundreds of artists who followed and emulated them. Artists like Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington and Bill Evans. The show will have great respect for the singers too, like Grammy award winner Mark Murphy, Lambert Hendricks and Ross, Sarah Vaughn, Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter, and Andy Bey. There will be a weekly “Jazz Datebook” with a brief rundown of where jazz artists are performing.

Let the Professor take you right back to the Summer of Love with a groovy mix of psychedelic hits and deep cuts mingling with the swingin’est garage psych around! If you’re one of the younger generation, kick back, listen, and dig what your parents and grandparents were groovin’ to back when they were doing all that stuff they now deny. If you remember these songs, you might not have been there! The Professor was living in a houseboat on San Francisco Bay in the late Sixties and early Seventies, but he was too young for the whole experience, so the neighborhood hippies took it upon themselves to protect him from the evils of drugs and Free Love…so he remembers everything…he thinks.
